The Evolution Continues

The feeling of accomplishment from quitting chewing tobacco is unexpected. It was an addiction that I accepted as part of who I am for so long, the thought of quitting was surreal. So this was the third in a series of steps that I'm taking to make dramatic changes to my life. The first step was giving up all drugs (mostly marijuana) almost ten years ago.

The Other Side

Day nine free of tobacco. While I did require the patch, I was able to do the thing I've been dreading for so long, give up chewing tobacco.

The Monkey

I figured I'd be strong enough to quit nicotine cold turkey. But after finding myself on day two digging around the trash can for spent tins of Copenhagen from which I might scrape out a small dose, I figured I couldn't last long.

Nicotine and Me

I had my first cigarette when I was a teenager. It was literally under the bridge and with the 'hoods' that had my first puff. I coughed for five minutes afterward and wouldn't go near another cigarette until I was twenty.
