Though I'm not a big Nirvana fan, I do recognize the band's talent and importance. And I have an odd fascination with people like Kurt Cobain. (Another figure I've recently become interesed in is Lee Mavers of The La's.) Anyway, the sample entries from Cobain are revealing and sad. Reading this, I felt like I was inside some sort of fish tank with Kurt, talking with him as many people stared in at us from the other side of the glass. He is no different than many of the people I grew up with. His tone reminds me of people I went to high school with. Then one day, he got famous and his old world was gone. He didn't want to leave his old world. He was evicted and forced in to a world of phonies. I have to wonder if it's a healthy situation to be in, a world of fantasy. Sure, there's still the music, but eventually that too must necessarily become a product of the fantasy world that's been created. Real music comes from real people being honest and real. I don't see how you could become a rock star and still make music.
Mon Mar 15 22:42:32 2004 - I finally closed off comments for this topic and actually deleted about a dozen of the ones that were posted. I initially did not want to delete any comments. But there are so many nuts out there that have absolutely nothing to say and can only speak in crude, brief profanities... well, there's the kids to think about folks.

Kurt and Courtney had an amazing twisted realtionship. Courtney didn't kill him. Kurt's empathetic heart killed him. He did it fo you. That's just who he was, and I respect that. He didn't want to live a lie. He was and still is an amazing man. I wish I could eat your cance when you turn black.

Ya'll all need to lay of courtney,she didnt do anything,I mean she has no musical talent lol but she didnt do anything to him,or at least in my oppion i dont think she did. kurt cobain is the coolest guy ever and had the best songs ive ever heard yeah,but u no if u listen to his songs it kind of makes sence that he killed himself i mean all he wanted to do was play his music not become some showboy...but thats ok we'll all meet him when we die,heaven isnt heaven without kurt!! i love u kurt rest in peace!!!
Alright, Kurt Cobain is an idol..he is a legand and that will never change..it doesnt matter wut kinda music Nirvana is bcuz there fuking awesome no matter what...and i think Courtney killed him..there is so much evidance..like, no finger prints on the gun, sum of the suicide note wusnt written by him and his credit card was used after he was dead...anyway kurt was not a happy person and wasnt happy when he wusnt high outta his fuking mind and when he wasnt playing his music..so lets not argue about wut kinda msic it is..nirvana is the best band in the world and always will be..and kurt is fuking awesome...RIP kurt cobain..Its better to burn out than to fade away, Peace, Love, Empathy....Annon

HEy.. I think that nirvana was and forever will be the best punk rock band there ever was. Kurt was great at what he did. IT was his parents fault. Putting a kid throught that shit at a young age.... They should have seen something comming!
Can i just ask one question which may of course be obvious but unfortunatley my little head is not so clever...How can u respect their talent and like their songs but not be a fan? im sorry this may be silly but surely liking the band and their music is considered as being a fan?? Kurt Cobain comitted suicide. It is sad but it's a fact. It's not fair to blame Courtney Love for his death, she loved him and he loved her. I know it's suicide is a confusing concept for some people and they don't want to believe that a man so brilliant would take his own life away but it happened. Leave Courtney alone and let him die in peace!.
Kurt deserves ACCOLADES for his music. It revolutionized the music world. Maybe if he did kill himself, it was cuz he foresaw all this pop, punk crap becoming the future music preference.
