I had my first cigarette when I was a teenager. It was literally under the bridge and with the 'hoods' that had my first puff. I coughed for five minutes afterward and wouldn't go near another cigarette until I was twenty.

Several weeks ago, my mom began complaining of dizziness. Stephanie had also noticed subtle changes in behavior that were not like Mom. Stephanie checked Mom's blood pressure and it was very high, so she drove Mom to the emergency room.

Sunni (Cleora) Slaughter passed away on October 16, 2008 due to complications from surgery to treat a brain aneurysm. She was 65.

Born in 1942 to Robert Kirkwood and Jaqueline Huber, Sunni is survived by son Harry Lee Slaughter III, daughter Stephanie Caceres, and grandchildren Myla and Antonio Caceres. Additional survivors include Mary Lou Coppinger, Skip Lee, Ann McLaren-Carlson, and Jane Crown.
